Babywearing Tutorials
Getting the perfect fit with your carrier can be tricky…but we are here to help! Unfortunately we can’t be on hand to help fit your carrier in person all the time (we have been asked many times!) but we have created these videos for you so you can learn to get a great fit at home.
BEFORE FITTING YOUR CARRIER
Ensure baby is fed and changed and feeling settled. Its normal for babies to fuss when going in the carrier. The more settled they are prior to going in the better.
Ensure you are fed and feeling settled! Babies are little emotional sponges and will pick up if you are feeling stressed or anxious. This may be new for both of you, so slow your breathing, take yor time and know that with a bit of practice you will become a pro! We promise!
Practice at home. Trying to fit your carrier the first few times in the middle of Tesco car park, isn’t the best environment for either of you. Ensure you aren’t in a rush and are both at home, or somewhere comfortable and quiet.
Take your time. You may need to stop and settle your baby as you go. Don’t rush and just take your time
Mirror. Practicing in from of a mirror is a great way to practice.
Its normal for baby to fuss…and here’s what to do If they do. Its very normal for babies to fuss when first going into the carrier or sling. The more relaxed you can be, the more relaxed it will help your baby be. A great way to soothe you both is to gently sway side to side and slow your breathing down. Go for a walk or get dancing! The movement really helps to settle them. If they are tired they may also have a little cry., before going to sleep. The more you wear them the quicker they will settle. This will be a safe and comforting space for them. If your baby cries for long periods or goes ridged in the carrier it might be worth looking at other possible reasons. Please get in touch if this is the case and we are happy to advise.
